Music Director: Sabatino VaccaSabatino Vacca is the Music Director for the Cambridge Community Orchestra and the Guelph Youth Music Centre Youth Symphony. The CCO led by Sabatino accompanied tenor Ben Heppner in a special benefit concert in Cambridge last season. Sabatino has also conducted orchestras in the Czech Republic, Symphony Hamilton, the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony, and the Scarborough Philharmonic Orchestra. He will be guest-conducting the Etobicoke Philharmonic Orchestra this season. For Opera York he has served as Artistic Director for productions of Carmen, Suor Angelica/Gianni Schicchi, La Traviata, The Barber of Seville, Tosca, and for Rigoletto this season. For Brampton Lyric Opera he has conducted Pagliacci, and Rigoletto. For Kitchener Opera he will conduct Madama Butterfly this season. He is currently on staff with Opera Hamilton and Wilfrid Laurier University, and has worked as an opera coach for the University of Toronto, as well as the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. This season he performed the Totentanz by Liszt as piano soloist with Symphony Hamilton in their opening concert. Last year Sabatino was granted the Spirit of Ontario award for the Arts by the National Congress of Italian Canadians. |
