A Message to Music Lovers and Our Supporters
We hope that you and your family are keeping well under these extraordinary circumstances.
On March 11, the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 Pandemic. Our federal and provincial governments and many health advisory groups have implemented wide-ranging changes to our society. The media has frequently been reminding us of those at highest risk and the specific things we all must do to keep safe and stay connected.
The CSO has responded, for the safety of our musicians and patrons. Sadly, we have taken the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the remainder of the 19/20 season.
With uncertain times, one can only speculate when the current restrictions are eased or removed. We are respectful of the stress, and uncertainty our society is experiencing. We are also proud of the impact of music not only in our vibrant and healthy community but also through this challenging time. People everywhere are coming together in their homes, through music, in all forms of media.
The COVID-19 global crisis is devastating for all industries financially, and the Arts are particularly vulnerable due to their resources wholly reliant on patrons, donors and sponsorships. The CSO is retaining artistic staff as they continue to work through supporting our organization and community through the planning of the 20/21 season.
As you know, donors and sponsors are essential to the vitality and growth of the Cambridge Symphony Orchestras programs. We do ask that you keep us in mind as deserving of your support through this unprecedented time. We hope that you and your family are keeping well under these extraordinary circumstances.
We look forward to musically sharing and celebrating our love of music with you as soon as it is safe to do so.
